TS9002 Series 300mA CMOS LDO with Enable & Power Good SOT-25 Pin Definition: 1. Input 2. Ground 3. Enable 4. Power Good 5. Output General Description The TS9002 series is a positive voltage linear regulator developed utilizing CMOS technology featured low quiescent current (30uA typ.), low dropout voltage, and high output voltage accuracy, making them ideal for battery applications. The Chip Enable (CE) includes a CMOS or TTL compatible input allows the output to be turned off to prolong battery life. The TS9002 series is included a precision voltage reference, error correction circuit, a current limited output driver, over temperature shutdown, and a "Power Good" detector, which pulls low when the output is out of regulation. This series are offered in 5-pin SOT-25 package. Features Dropout voltage typically 0.4V@ Io=300mA (Vo>2.5V) Low power consumption Output voltage 2%, 3% (1.2V) Internal current limit and thermal shutdown Short circuit current fold-back Power saving shutdown mode Power good output function Ordering Information Part No. TS9002xCX5 RF 1=1.2V A=1.5V K=2.5V S=3.3V Contact factory for additional voltage options. Detail Description The TS9002 family of CMOS regulators contain a PMOS pass transistor, voltage reference, error amplifier, overcurrent protection, thermal shutdown, and power good function. The P-channel pass transistor receives data from the error amplifier, over-current shutdown, and thermal protection circuits. During normal operation, the error amplifier compares the output voltage to a precision reference. Over-current o and Thermal shutdown circuits become active when the junction temperature exceeds 150 C, or the current exceeds 300mA. During thermal shutdown, the output voltage remains low. Normal operation is restored when the junction o temperature drops below 120 C. The TS9002 switches from voltage mode to current mode when the load exceeds the rated output current. This prevents over-stress. The TS9002 also incorporates current foldback to reduce power dissipation when the output is short circuit. This feature becomes active when the output drops below 0.8volts, and reduces the current flow by 65%. Full current is restored when the voltage exceeds 0.8 volts. External Capacitors The TS9002 is stable with an output capacitor to ground of 2.2mF or greater. Ceramic capacitors have the lowest ESR, and will offer the best AC performance. Conversely, Aluminum Electrolytic capacitors exhibit the highest ESR, resulting in the poorest AC response. Unfortunately, large value ceramic capacitors are comparatively expensive. One option is to parallel a 0.1mF ceramic capacitor with a 10mF Aluminum Electrolytic. The benefit is low ESR, high capacitance, and low overall cost. A second capacitor is recommended between the input and ground to stabilize Vin. The input capacitor should be at least 0.1mF to have a beneficial effect. All capacitors should be placed in close proximity to the pins. A "Quiet" ground termination is desirable. This can be achieved with a "Star" connection Enable The Enable pin normally floats high. When actively, pulled low, the PMOS pass transistor shuts off, and all internal circuits are powered down. In this state, the quiescent current is less than 1mA. This pin behaves much like an electronic switch. Power Good The TS9002 includes the Power Good feature. When the output is not within? 5% of the specified voltage, it pulls low. This can occur under the following conditions: (1) Input Voltage too low. (2) During Over-Temperature. (3) During Over-Current (4) If output is pulled up. (Note: PG pin is an open-drain output) 2/5 Version: A07 TS9002 Series 300mA CMOS LDO with Enable & Power Good Electrical Characteristics (Ta = 25C, unless otherwise noted) Parameter Input Voltage Output Voltage Accuracy Dropout Voltage Output Current Current Limit Short Circuit Current Quiescent Current Ground Pin Current Symbol VIN VO VDROPOUT IO ILIM ISC IQ IGND IO=1mA Test Condition Min Note 1 -1.5 ---300 300 ----0.2 -0.15 -0.1 -0.4 -1 ---- Typ ------450 150 30 35 --0.02 0.2 0.2 150 30 30 60 50 20 30 ----0.5 -------- Max 7 1.5 1300 400 300 --300 50 -0.2 0.15 0.1 0.4 1 -------Vin 0.4 0.1 0.5 1 0.4 85 75 --1 7 0.4 Units V % mV mA mA mA uA uA IO=300mA VO=VO(NOM) -2.0% VO >1.2V VO >1.2V VO <0.8V IO =0mA 1.2VVO(NOM)2.0V 2.0V REGLINE Load Regulation Over Temperature Shutdown Over Temperature Hysterisis VO Temperature Coefficient Power Supply Rejection REGLOAD OTS OTH TC PSRR IO =1mA to 300mA 1.2V VO 1.4V VIN= VO +1 to 1.4V < V 2.0V O IO =1mA 2.0V< VO < 4.0V VO +2 4.0V Vo IO=1mA to 300mA % % C C ppm/C dB IO =100mA CO=2.2mF f =100Hz f =1kHz ----2.0 0 ---0 --115 125 --- Output Voltage Noise EN Input Threshold EN Input Bias Current Shutdown Supply Current Shutdown Output Voltage Output Under Voltage Output Over Voltage PG Leakage Current PG Voltage Rating PG Voltage Low Note: VIN(MIN)=VOUT + VDROPUT eN VEH VEL IEH IEL ISD VSD VUV VOV ILC VPG VOL f =10kHz f=10Hz to 100kHz Co=2.2mF IO=10mA VIN=2.7V to 7V VIN =2.7V to 7V VEN= VIN, VIN =2.7V to 7V VEN =0V, VIN =2.7V to 7V VIN =5V, VO=0V, VEN < VEL IO =0.4mA, VEN < VEL 2.5V VO(NOM) 5.0V 1.2V VO(NOM)< 2.5V 2.5V VO(NOM) 5.0V 1.2V VO(NOM)< 2.5V VPG=7V VO in regulation ISINK=0.4mA mVrms V V mA mA mA V %VO(NOM) %VO(NOM) mA V V -- -- 3/5 Version: A07 TS9002 Series 300mA CMOS LDO with Enable & Power Good SOT-25 Mechanical Drawing DIM A+A1 B C D E E H L 1 S1 SOT-25 DIMENSION MILLIMETERS INCHES MIN MAX MIN MAX. 0.09 1.25 0.0354 0.0492 0.30 0.50 0.0118 0.0197 0.09 0.25 0.0035 0.0098 2.70 3.10 0.1063 0.1220 1.40 1.80 0.0551 0.0709 1.90 BSC 0.0748 BSC 2.40 3.00 0.09449 0.1181 0.35 BSC 0.0138 BSC 0 10 0 10 0.95 BSC 0.0374 BSC 4/5 Version: A07 TS9002 Series 300mA CMOS LDO with Enable & Power Good Notice Specifications of the products displayed herein are subject to change without notice.
