ACA2407 750/870 MHz CATV Power Doubler Line Amplifier Data Sheet - Rev 2.0 FEATURES * * * * * * * * * 21.5 dB Gain Very Low Distortion Excellent 75 Input and Output Match Stable with High VSWR Load Conditions Monolithic Design for Consistent Performance Part-to-Part Low DC Power Consumption Surface Mount Package Compatible with Automatic Assembly Low Cost Alternative to Hybrids Meets Cenelec Standards APPLICATIONS * CATV Line Amplifiers, System Amplifiers, Distribution Nodes S7 Package 16 Pin Wide Body SOIC with Heat Slug PRODUCT DESCRIPTION The ACA2407 is a highly linear, monolithic GaAs RF amplifier that has been developed to replace, in new designs, standard CATV hybrid amplifiers. Offered in a convenient surface mount package, the MMIC consists of two pairs of parallel amplifiers that are optimized for exceptionally low distortion and noise figure. A hybrid equivalent that provides flat gain response and excellent input and output return loss over the 40 to 870 MHz CATV downstream band is formed when one ACA2407 is cascaded between two appropriate transmission line baluns. 1A RF Input 2A RF Output 1B 2B ACA2407 Figure 1: Hybrid Application Diagram 04/2002 ACA2407 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 GND 2A IN GND 1A IN 1BIN ISET 2B IN GND Figure 2: Pin Out GND 1A OUT Bias 1A 2A OUT 2B OUT Bias 1B 1BOUT GND 16 15 14 13 12 11 10 9 Table 1: Pin Description PIN 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 NAME GND 2AIN GND 1AIN 1BIN ISET 2BIN GND DESCRIPTION Ground Amplifier 2A Input Ground Amplifier 1A Input Amplifier 1B Input Current Adjust Amplifier 2B Input Ground PIN 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 NAME GND 1BOUT B i as 1B 2BOUT 2AOUT B i as 1A 1AOUT GND DESCRIPTION Ground Amplifier 1B Output Bias for 1B Amplifier Amplifier 2B Output and Supply Amplifier 2A Output and Supply Bias for 1A Amplifier Amplifier 1A Output Ground 2 Data Sheet - Rev 2.0 04/2002 ACA2407 ELECTRICAL CHARACTERISTICS Table 2: Absolute Mimimum and Maximum Ratings PARAMETER Supply (pins 12, 13) Current Adjust (pin 6) RF Power at Inputs (pins 4, 5) Storage Temperature Soldering Temperature Soldering Time MIN 0 0 -65 - MAX +28 +4 +75 +150 +260 5.0 UNIT VD C VD C dBmV C C S ec Stresses in excess of the absolute ratings may cause permanent damage. Functional operation is not implied under these conditions. Exposure to absolute ratings for extended periods of time may adversely affect reliability. Notes: 1. Pins 2, 4, 5 and 7 should be AC-coupled. No external DC bias should be applied. 2. Pins 11 and 14 are bias feeds for input amplifiers 1A and 1B. No external DC bias should be applied. 3. Pins 10 and 15 receive DC bias directly from pins 11 and 14. No other external bias should be applied.
